Kingsley Village
in the heart of Cheshire

We’ve now had a little time to review all your comments from the completed Neighbourhood Planning survey. Over half of the survey’s were completed online which is great so we will continue to produce further questionnaires online and also have a paper copy for those that would prefer to complete a written version.

We wanted to share some initial findings with you before our next consultation event.

  • 81% supported the development of a Neighbourhood Plan. 17% were unsure so at our next consultation event we will include some further info to show the benefits of a Neighbourhood Plan to help answer any queries you may have
  • 97% of you felt that Kingsley was a very good or good place to live
  • 71% of you felt that Kingsley was a very good or good place to run a business
  • A few of the key words that were mentioned multiple times about what you value most about living/working in Kingsley included, ‘Village’, ‘Community’, ‘Friendly’, ‘Countryside’ & ‘Community Spirit’
  • The main 2 elements of Kingsley that people didn’t like related to traffic/transport and housing. Many people referred to the parking pressures in the village and inconsiderate driving. For housing, several people suggested there wasn’t enough housing stock for single people, young people and those wishing to downsize. Some people felt there has been a ‘rapid and unnecessary’ growth of the village whilst others felt that the village should be allowed to flourish and grow
  • Many responses to what you felt were the main pressures affecting Kingsley now and in the future related to future development with common themes on potential loss of green belt land, possible changes to the rural character of the village, concern about rising house prices and affordability of property especially for first time buyers and older people looking to downsize.

What will happen next?

We will be arranging a series of ‘drop in’ events in February/March 2019 where we will share more of the findings from the questionnaire. We will also be sharing the draft vision and objectives, so we can check with you that we have got them right, as they will set the direction for what we will be aiming to achieve with the Neighbourhood Plan. We will advertise these events in Kingsley News, as well as on our local village website and Facebook pages
