The monthly Meeting was held in the Community Centre on March 3rd, Lynn Blyth was in the chair.

The activities for the month include the walk in Whitegate on 8th, the Darts Competition on 10th, Scrabble Club on 11th," lively hands" on 5th and Luncheon Club on 19th at Alvanley Arms. Members will be serving tea and coffee at the Kingsley Transition Initiative Morning in the Community Centre on March 20th.

Members were treated to an illustrated talk be Sue Beesley of Bluebell Cottage Gardens. She spoke about her life changing experience of winning BBC gardener of the Year in 2006.She had been an IT consultant with a small garden ouside Warrington but within a few months of winning the competition she and her family had moved to a large, well known but run down garden and nursery with committments to open to the public in a few weeks. She knew the garden had many "treasures" but didn't know what or where so had to tread carefully for the first year. Her hard work and patience were well rewarded and she is now able to make a few changes while keeping most of the structure and original planting. The basis of the garden is Hardy Perennials so many of these now need dividing and used for sale in the well stocked and interesting nursery. There were two wonderful surprises in store for Sue in her first year, the beauty of the bluebell wood and the wildflower meadow.

Apart from her work in the garden and nursery Sue has designed and made award winning gardens at Tatton Show, gives lectures and takes part in question and answer sessions. She hosts and teaches at RHS events at Bluebell Cottage.

The April meeting will be on April 7th when the speaker will be Sylvia Beythoon (an ex Kingsley resident) who will speak about china painting.

If anyone would like to comment on our activities or consider becoming a member, the Secretary (Lynn Blyth) can be contacted on 01928 787332.
