Kingsley Parish Council – February Report
The dominant issue at the February Parish Council meeting was the proposed affordable housing scheme. A number of residents attended the meeting to express their views.
Fiona Grant informed the Council that a number of residents had raised objections to the Pike Lane development and a petition had been formed. The objections given were that the development fell outside the village development boundary, was in the Green Belt and had failed to demonstrate a need for the number and density of mix of dwellings. She also queried what comparisons had been carried out between the three sites as she could find no record of this in the Parish Council Minutes.
The Chairman confirmed that all three sites were considered and a vote had been taken and the Pike Lane site was the preferred site.
The Chairman recommended that anyone having a view about the proposed development should submit their comments to the Planning Department at Cheshire West as they were the authority who would be making the final decision on the application.
Several other members of the public spoke mainly concerned with traffic safety issues. The Parish Council had submitted their comments on the application and had expressed some concern about the access from Pike Lane. This was fully reported in the January edition of the Kingsley News.
Due to the half term holiday, a meeting with the Planning Officer had not yet taken place to discuss the points raised regarding the occupancy criteria. The Parish Council has made it clear that this is of paramount importance and that people with a Kingsley connection must take precedence over others.
There were concerns expressed about the availability of information. Everyone is reminded that the minutes of the Parish Council are available on the village website which is www.kingsleyvillage.co.uk. Notices of meetings are posted on the village notice board and on the website.
